The Un-Cocktail
Sometimes you want a cocktail, but it’s not an drink-alcohol-kind-of-time. Either you have to drive, have to get up early in the morning, or any number of other reasons. So, what to do?
The Seattle-based Dry Soda Company has produced a line of sodas geared toward the foodie in you, the carbonated equivalent of a fine wine. The dry sodas are all-natural, non-caffeinated, and slightly sweetened with pure cane sugar. It’s the first of its kind and the line is unique in mixing both fragrance and flavor. They are made with fruit and herb extracts and the unusual flavors are meant to compliment foods for your fine dining and casual entertaining adventures. There are four flavors currently available, Kumquat, Lavender, Lemongrass and Rhubarb.
Kumquat — a citrus jolt with a delicate sweetness. Perfect for salmon, white fish, risotto, duck, mussels and oysters.
Lavender — Subtly sweet and aromatic, it pairs well with cheese, pork, desserts and chocolate.
Rhubarb — sweetness combined with the tartness of rhubarb. Drink with veal, prime rib, hamburgers, comfort food and winter vegetables.
Lemongrass — Refreshing and tantalizing, it pairs well with Asian-inspired foods, spicy dishes, sushi, and goat cheese.
And for those that can’t resist a full-fledged cocktail, Dry Soda also offers plenty of cocktail recipes on their web site as well. Happy drinking!

If you like this, you’ve got to try GUS- - Grown Up Soda. They make a dry lemon soda that is fantastic, and they don’t use HFCS as a sweetener.
